3/4/12
We worked on missing addend last week and the students loved helping Lucky find the missing addend. They made their own luck bags and played using different numbers from 5-10 for practice. I also created a smartboard lesson to go with the missing addend. It is a good visual practice for students. They enjoyed helping lucky find the missing numbers. It has worksheets included for independent practice. It also includes using a number line to find the missing number. My students have really enjoyed using this smartboard lesson.

Check it out on my Teachers Pay Teachers store.

Missing Addends
In our classroom we have been working on learning about missing addends. To do this, we introduced a dog named Lucky! He is a lucky dog when it comes to finding numbers. The students must help Lucky find the missing numbers in addition. To introduce the lesson I used a black bucket( from Halloween) to be my pot of gold. I found gold coins at target. I put just five coins into my bucket and asked students to help me figure out if I pulled out two gold coins, how many would still be in that bucket?  This game works great for helping students correlate addition facts. They really picked up on the concept quick.
